This is a beautiful, solid, hardwood, credenza from the 50's-60's. We are not sure if the wood used is teak or some other type of hard wood. Someone mentioned this piece looks like a Pearsall design but we're not sure.
This is a two tier credenza or server that was originally designed to house serving pieces in a dining room. The top tier rests on the bottom atop two rounded legs that are shaped like books. These legs are easily removable by hand.
This wonderful find has been acquired form a Philadelphia estate. We have inspected the entire piece from top to bottom. We tightened up screws where needed, cleaned and polished the entire piece as well.
There are two DEEP scratches on the main piece's top and a part of the top's inlay that has bowed a bit on the edge of the corner. We provide photos of both of these imperfections.
This credenza has multiple storage spaces on the top tier and bottom. The bottom piece has three, thin drawers as shown in the photos. The other storage spaces have shelving with adjustable heights. The shelves are kept in place by pegs in holes. There is one shelf missing the support pegs needed to hold it but these are common and can be easily found.
Dimensions: total height 61"
width both of pieces 62.75"
top tier height (with legs) 27.5"
top tier depth 15"
bottom tier depth 18"
bottom tier height 33"
space between top tier and bottom tier 11"
space from bottom tier to ground 11"
Top tier compartments left 18"w x 15"h x 12"d
right same as left
center 24" x 15" x 12"
Bottom tier compartments left 18"w x 18"h x 15"d
right 42.5"w x 18"h x 15"d
Over all this rare find is an 8.5 out of 10 as far as condition. It has never been painted, stained or repaired other than a little glue we found trying the mend the fraying inlay on top.
It is all original and features dramatic and breathtaking natural wood grain patterns. This credenza will last for many years to come, in function and style.
Please feel free to message us with any specific questions.
Thank You!
