Vintage 1940's Beaded Bakelite Box Purse, Fre Mor Braided Top Handle Bag, Butterscotch Bakelite & Blue Lucite Beads, Large Kissing Clasp

An incredibly well-preserved beaded bakelite box purse from the 1940s. Featuring a butterscotch bakelite frame with iridescent blue lucite bead siding and a matching braided bead top handle. The purse has silver-tone hardware, including hinged loops where the handle attaches, and a large decorative kissing clasp on top. The bag's interior has a shiny black upholstering with gold-tone accents/hardware and multiple storage compartments spread out fan style. There are no designer tags or hallmarks, but the bag looks like it may be a Fre Mor if not closely modeled after it. Regardless, this bag is a beautiful specimen of its time and has retained its aesthetic and functional purposes. Given its age, there is some minor wear to the bakelite frame, but the beading is intact, and overall this purse is in great vintage condition and ready for a night on the town.
