A beautiful handcrafted vintage Dhokra brass leaf and bead collar necklace. Dhokra is an ancient style of metal-casting from India and yields stand-out high-quality jewelry.
This necklace features a thickly woven black cotton strand stationed with 14 marquise-shaped panels and 15 faceted brass bead spacers. The brass leaves are wrapped with coil/swirl decoration and fan out along most of the collar. The necklace secures with a brass bead toggle clasp and lays beautifully around the base of the neck.
The leaf panels are quite thin and can be misshapen or lie askew, but they are malleable and very easy to fix into place. There is some discoloration to portions of the brass, but the gold luster certainly shines through, and with the proper care, it could be cleaned up quite nicely. The woven cotton necklace remains tightly knotted with no notable weak points. Overall in great vintage condition with age-appropriate wear.
