We have a stunning, well-preserved antique Scottish agate brooch set in silver from the late Victorian era. The Agate gemstones are set flush in a circular silver setting, each with its own unique colors and banding patterns. Emerging from the center is a beautiful layering of silver leaves embellished with faceted amethyst cabochon flowers. The back of the brooch has a hinged safety pin and handmade latch as well as a small silver pendant loop, so this piece can be worn versatilely. There are no notable hallmarks, but the age and quality of the design are apparent, and we are confident of its authenticity. All the stones remain secure in their original settings with only minor wear to the agate stone's polished finish. The amethyst stones bear a bit more wear given their protruding nature. The top-set amethyst appears as though it was broken at some point and was pieced back together. Despite that, the stone seems solidly set. The silver does have some tarnishing, but the brooch's robust aesthetic is well preserved. Overall this is an excellent collector's piece in great antique condition.
