HUGE Native American Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace, Vintage Old Pawn Jewelry, Navajo Pearls, Natural Blue Turquoise, 32" L
HUGE Native American Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace, Vintage Old Pawn Jewelry, Navajo Pearls, Natural Blue Turquoise, 32" L
An incredible Old Pawn Native American squash blossom necklace with over 20 natural blue turquoise stones. Staggering in size and beauty, this necklace was most likely designed for a ceremonial powwow and looks like a museum-quality display piece.
The Naja pendant measures over 7 inches high with 10 turquoise stones and a center silver leaf/feather/flower embellishment. The larger than life pendant is displayed on a double strand of Navajo pearls/bench beads with 14 squash blossoms (7 on each side). The squash blossoms are each set with a turquoise cabochon with the largest stones closest to the pendant. The beads are strung on silver mesh chains and the necklace secures with a hook clasp on the ends.
There are no hallmarks or artist signatures, but the craftsmanship of this robust piece is apparent. The silver has a natural gray patina seen in most old pawn jewelry and is likely coin silver or sterling silver. All the stones remain secure in their settings, and the beaded strands seem to be holding up well. There is minor warping to the pendant as well as some general wear and tarnishing, but given its size and age it seems to be in excellent condition.
