Antique Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Chainmail Purse

We have an exquisite antique Tiffany & Co. sterling silver chain mail evening bag c 1917

The elegant refined evening bag is constructed with a sterling silver clasp frame, chain strap handle & sterling silver mesh pouch.

The evening bag is constructed with delicate sterling silver interwoven chain mail links that have remained in excellent condition over the years. The sterling frame is embellished with intricate art nouveau foliage designs, a decorated kissing clasp, and is engraved with the original owner's name 'Zaida. Dec 7th, 1917'. The purse is carried with a sterling silver chain strap with elongated oval links connected to the sides of the frame.

This is an incredibly rare and well-preserved evening bag collectible from a bygone era. It would make a wonderful addition to a vintage handbag collection and is perfect for weddings, holidays, or special formal occasions.

Condition: Very good for its age with all of the chainmail intact. There is a small portion toward the bottom of the mesh that is slightly discolored, but silver has been cleaned and polished and bears minimal tarnishing. The inner frame has been hallmarked 'Tiffany & Co.' and 'Sterling 843'.
